#15 of 23 hotels in Ithaca based on Tripadvisor

United Kingdom, December  2023
5.8/10

The hotel is well-located and ideal for downtown Ithaca, making it convenient to access many great restaurants. However, the rooms felt claustrophobic and outdated, not justifying the high price tag without breakfast included.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were a bit stale and felt claustrophobic. They seemed like they haven't been updated and were comparable to a 2-star motel.
Service
5.0
The service was a bit stiff and lacked engagement. Information about a much-needed total makeover starting in December was shared, but there was room for improvement in addressing guest concerns.
Location
8.0
The location is the standout feature, being in a sophisticated Ivy League college town. It's easy to walk to various restaurants, which is the hotel's main redeeming quality.
Dining
6.0
There were not many dining options, and it would have been better to have more choices, especially considering the room price. Sundays were an exception with limited dining availability.
Facilities
6.0
Basic facilities were available, but nothing exceptional was noted. The value for money could have been better considering the overall experience.

7.8/10

The hotel had clean and modern rooms, but lacked soundproofing due to a ceiling leak. The service was friendly and accommodating, although some issues with the charges occurred. The location was convenient, especially for dining options in town. Despite basic dining offerings, the proximity to good restaurants was a plus.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were clean, nice in size, and up to date, with a beautiful bathroom resembling a newly finished home bathroom.
Service
7.0
The staff from the front desk to room service were friendly and accommodating, although there was a billing issue that needed to be resolved.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location was very convenient for accessing dining options in town, making it a good choice for exploring the area.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience was satisfactory, with flavorful options, even though some basic offerings could have been improved.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities provided everything needed for a comfortable stay, although there were some issues with soundproofing.

7.2/10

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of town, close to the Commons and Cornell, offering convenient free parking. The rooms are clean and inviting, featuring laminate wood floors and a large king-size bed. The service is accommodating, although it can be challenging to get things done efficiently. The dining experience may be a bit slow, but the location is perfect for exploring the culture spots and restaurants around Ithaca. Overall, a comfortable stay with some minor drawbacks.

Rooms
8.0
The room was warm and inviting, with clean laminate wood floors and a large king-size bed. However, the temperature was set at 61 degrees, which may not be ideal for everyone.
Service
7.0
The service was exceptionally accommodating, with gigantic bedrooms and a large selection at breakfast. However, there seemed to be communication issues when trying to address certain issues.
Location
9.0
The location is perfect, close to the Commons and Cornell, with easy free parking available. It made it convenient for our purpose.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience, like in many other hotels, was a bit surprising. While the food itself was inedible and took forever to arrive, the cakes were enjoyable.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities, including room service, dry cleaning, and a free shuttle service, were convenient, but there is room for improvement in terms of efficiency.

My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The room I stayed in was clean and very nice inside, but the view out the window left much to be desired. The service was a bit hit or miss; while one staff member was extremely accommodating and fulfilled my request to be moved to a different part of the hotel, another was not sympathetic and offered inadequate compensation for a mix-up. The location was good overall, with a sophisticated vibe and proximity to the Ivy League collegetown, although it was a bit noisy with a large group of high school students nearby. The dining experience was just okay, not outstanding, but something I might consider trying on my next visit. The facilities were decent, meeting basic needs without standing out.
